W32/Blaster.worm infection history was subject to scrutiny as the case was a considered by US court in 2003. The worm was released thanks to the effort of Chinese and Polish hackers groups that unveiled Windows vulnerabilities, which then were used by US teenage hacker to spread the worm even without minor users participation. Strings of the worms contained messages addressed to Bill Gates. One of them ran as follows:
“I just want to say LOVE YOU SAN!!”
According to this message, the worm was also referred to as Lovesan worm. The worms original task was to arrange a denial of services attack related to the website of Microsoft that provided on-demand assistance to its users. However, the attack was rather unsuccessful, unlike a side effect of the worm activities. A side affect of the worm activities was recurrent sudden reboots of Windows which the OS itself explained by RPC Service unexpected termination. The termination was induced because of the worm activities.
W32/Blaster.worm removal is still a topical issue as the infection has turned out to be extremely viable. Its original distributor is beyond a suspicion of further developing the worm, but many followers keep improving and spreading it applying contemporary distribution techniques.
