I’m trying to remove XP Antivirus 2011 from my aunt’s computer. It’s completely blocked her internet. AVG won’t run in normal or safe mode, MBAM would only run in safe mode but found nothing (143 days out of date but XP Anti-virus won’t let it acess internet). Most of the sites I’ve visited for a removal tool all give d/l’s for Spyware Doctor. I tried it but it wouldn’t run a scan without updating. XP Anti-virus won’t let it so obviously this didn’t work. Also it wanted AVG to be removed during set-up but AVG encounters an error and refuses to uninstall (I suspect this is also XP Anti-virus’s fault.) Is there a tool that will remove XP Anti-virus without demanding I access the internet first? I don’t feel I’m program savy enough to attempt manual removal myself.

Considering quite a lot of occasions when XP Antivirus 2011 prevented people from downloading the removal tool, we would like to list a few options that might help you bypass the rogueware trap.
    - Try to download our removal tool in Safe Mode with Networking – it’s entered through pressing F8 button repeatedly when your computer is booting up.
    - If you can’t use Safe Mode, download our remover using a PC that is not infected. Then, save it to a flash memory device, CD or some other data medium. Transfer the remover to your PC from that external drive. In case XP Antivirus 2011 blocks this, you might want to rename the removal tool before transferring it to your machine.
    - Additionally, you should try to do the following. Go to ‘Start’ menu and click ‘Run’. Type in ‘msconfig’, this will open up a new window. In that window, choose ‘Startup’ tab. Find a process that shouldn’t be executed when you boot into Windows. This might be sysguard.exe or similar. Then, uncheck this odd process and save the changes. Restart. Now, XP Antivirus 2011 should be paralyzed for a short while. Use this time to download and run our removal tool.
    Important Notice!
    - In case XP Antivirus 2011 is preventing you from going online using your Internet Explorer, you should do the following:
    1. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools, then choose Internet Options.
    2. Click the tab called Connections.
    3. Click LAN settings button.
    4. In the Local Area Network window that opened up, please untick the following option: “Use a proxy server for your LAN”.
    5. Click OK, then Apply and OK once again.
You should now be able to use the internet and download removal tools to get rid of XP Antivirus 2011.
Good luck everyone trying to remove XP Antivirus 2011 rogue!
